Brasilia, the beautiful capital of Brazil

Although, in terms of popularity, events or festivals Brasilia cannot be compared with Rio De Jeneiro or Sao Paulo – Brazil’s top fun and travel capitals. But, this planned city has a lot of specialty that are unique to it.

Firstly, let me tell you that Brasilia is not only a planned city but a planned capital. It is organized and has least or any issues of insecurity or slum gang threats. Actually, the whole Brazil is far more developed and fast paced on the road to progress, peace and development. The country is the exciting new host for FIFA Soccer World Cup 2014. Although, the last world cup in South Africa and the surprising Spanish victory has raised the bar for Brazilian Soccer team and the world’s favorite Brazilian footballers. But when the toughest competitor is the host ….you can imagine it will take the next Soccer World Cup to a whole new level!

Brasilia is one of the host cities of the World Cup 2014. Here let me also tell you that flights to Brasilia are more conveniently available in comparison to Rio or Sao Paulo as the city is less travelled by tourists (in comparison to the other two). But at the time close to World Cup, be prepared to hear sky high flight fares. It is better to get an advance reservation done for cheap flights to Brazil.

When you arrive in Brasilia, you will find it nothing less than any top 21st century cosmopolitan attraction in the world. This Brazilian capital city, is one of the few planned cities in the world and was inaugurated on April 22nd 1960. It occupies the central area of the country that once resembled to a desert as recent as only five years ago.

The almost uninhabited land with scarce water, few animals and hardly any plants is now converted to a concrete jungle with dazzling sky scrapers, all modern day amenities and attractions good enough to entertain all young and old.

Brasilia is a special place to visit for those who appreciate architectural wonders. The former President of Brazil (1956), Mr. Juscelino Kubitschek, invited the best Brazilian architects to present projects for the new capital city. Best out of the best, proposals were selected after a tough competition. Lucio Costa, reknowned Brazilian urbanist, devised a lay-out combining beauty, simplicity and functionality while one of the world’s most famous architects, Oscar Niemeyer combined straight and rounded shapes to create innovative architectural masterpieces, that are brought to life today and make the most eye catching and picturesque locations in Brazil.
