Top Ten Destinations List 2011 Released – British Airways

UK’s top most carrier and the ‘going to be’ Europe’s biggest joint venture, British Airways has recently shared with the world, its new top ten list of destinations that will make a difference in 2011 tourism.

Among the top most are US, Caribbean and Indian Ocean destination including flights to New York, Las Vegas, Mauritius, Maldives and other holiday destinations in the Indian Ocean. British Airways joint business with American Airlines and Iberia will also open new horizons in the tourism world in 2011 as the venture will give customers a choice of 17 flights a day between London and New York City. However, the ‘pride of place’ goes to North African city Marrakech, a recently launched route of British Airways. Marrakesh is a fresh and rich holiday destination, also known as “red city”. 

British Airways’ CEO, Willie Walsh, stated at this occasion:

"The response we’ve had to the launch of routes like the Maldives, Las Vegas and Marrakech has been incredible. We’ve seen destinations in the Caribbean and Indian Ocean becoming even more popular with leisure travelers looking for sun and relaxation. Those after 24-hour cities are heading towards New York, Las Vegas and Japan."

He added:

"Tourism and leisure travel is a crucial focus for us, so growing our holiday’s business is a major part of our business plan. We’ve already made great progress thanks to the launch of our Dynamic Packaging capability on ba.com, which enables customers to book flights and hotels together and realize substantial savings. Revenue this year is up 55 per cent and there remains a huge opportunity for future growth."

2010 remained an overall ‘experimental’ year for many airlines, where emphasis largely remained at increasing flights to African continent and certain holiday destinations in Europe and Far East Asia. Also, British Airways paid attention to increasing its flights to Tokyo the capital of Japan and also one of the world’s financial capitals. BA has also included flights to Haneda (Tokyo) the newly renovated airport, in its plans for 2011. Flight to Haneda airport from London Heathrow will be starting from 19 February 2011.

British Airways will launch new flights to Marrakech beginning on March 27, 2011 which remains BA’s number one spot following San Diego where flights will service from June 01, 2011. Other new routes include flights to Puerto Rico taking off from March 28, 2011. The top ten destinations of British Airways for the coming year also include flights to, New York, St Kitts & Nevis, Maldives, Japan, Las Vegas, Mauritius and St Lucia.
